I know. I admit it…I have a thing for countertops.
This is another idea that I got from Debbie Travis and The Painted House (who remembers?). My twist on it was that I used vintage sewing patterns, and then stamped a random image after it was all done.
To start, I painted the entire surface a dark brown as my base (other colors would be great too). For my decoupage medium, I went with Minwax, Polycrylic (link below) and a sponge roller. It was perfect. It dried quickly, and gave the tissue paper a transparent quality.
Initially, I did this treatment to my office desk, and later did a parade home laundry room. It is a subtle statement with huge impact, and that is why it’s one of my favs. Can you imagine a sewing room wall with this treatment? Hmmm.
