Personalized Countertop

Funny how sometimes budget restrictions can spark your imagination, isn’t it? After our island was installed, and I had the raw plywood as our counter, I struggled with what to do with it. Decoupage?, stain?… I couldn’t decide. Then I remembered an episode of The Painted House, where Debbie made a partition with wood and a stencil. She painted glue in the stencil, took it off, and then stained. The stain would not penetrate where the glue had dried (clear). This was it! I would put words and phrases of all the things we tell the kids during dinner.
